What this site actually does with your information.
Written to match the current implementation, not a generic template. Where a practice isn’t fully settled yet, that’s stated plainly below instead of glossed over.
Who this covers
This notice covers yxlab.co and its subdomains. YX Lab is an independent research lab operated by one person; there is no separate corporate entity processing your information beyond what’s described here.
Analytics and cookies
This site does not use cookies, and no analytics or tracking provider (Google Analytics, PostHog, Plausible, or otherwise) is connected. An internal event-logging function exists in the codebase for the Field Notes subscription flow, but it currently only writes to the server’s own console during a request. It doesn’t send data to any third party, and nothing about your visit is tracked across sessions or across sites.
Contact form submissions
The Contact page collects your name, email address, a reason for writing, and a message. Submitting it saves that information in YX Lab’s Supabase database, in a table used only for Contact page submissions. It is not yet forwarded automatically to an email inbox, so a reply depends on the message being read manually. If the database isn’t reachable when you submit, the form tells you plainly that it failed rather than showing a false confirmation. If you need a guaranteed reply, the Contact page also links directly to kary@yxlab.co.
Field Notes subscription
Subscribing to Field Notes collects your email address and an explicit, timestamped consent record, kept separate from any other form on the site. It is never enabled as a side effect of submitting the Contact form or anything else; you have to check that box yourself. Like other submissions on this site, it’s currently saved to the server’s own storage rather than a dedicated mailing-list provider.
Where information is stored
Contact page submissions and Field Notes subscriptions are stored in Supabase, a hosted database provider, in separate tables only YX Lab’s server can read or write. This site is hosted on Vercel, which operates the infrastructure the site and its stored data run on.
Third-party processors
Vercel hosts the site’s infrastructure, and Supabase hosts its database. Beyond those two, no third-party processor currently receives your information. No email provider (Resend or otherwise) is connected yet, no analytics or advertising platform is integrated, and no data is sold or shared for any commercial purpose.
Retention and your rights
A formal retention schedule for stored submissions hasn’t been set yet. This is flagged here for legal review, not asserted as settled. In the meantime, you can request access to, or deletion of, any information you’ve submitted by emailing kary@yxlab.co, and that request will be honored directly.
Changes to this notice
As the site’s actual infrastructure changes (a real inbox, a connected database, a mailing-list provider), this page will be updated to match it, in the same order the practice changed, never described ahead of when it’s actually true.
